Angelo & Palmorina Scalzo — The Family
They Brought the Heart of Italy With Them
Angelo and Palmorina Scalzo came to America from Italy’s Calabria region in 1898, first putting down roots in Waterbury, Connecticut, before heading to Detroit to raise their six children.
They didn’t just cross an ocean for a fresh start. They brought with them the heart of the old country — family, tradition, and unforgettable Calabrian cooking — passed down generation after generation and still alive today, right here in Waterford.
